The Verboort community, located in the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District is served by Forest Grove Fire & Rescue through a longstanding contract between the fire district and the city of Forest Grove.

At a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 6 to 7 p.m., Forest Grove Fire & Rescue Chief Jim Geering will speak to Community Participation Organization (CPO) 13, which serves rural areas just outside of Forest Grove, including Verboort and Gales Creek, and the Banks-adjacent community of Roy.

Geering was asked by the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District to speak to the group on mutual aid agreements, a spokesperson for FGF&R said.

The group currently meets in Banks at the Banks Public Library.

CPO 13, a quasi-governmental body run by volunteers elected from the community it serves, shares a board member with the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District in the form of Melinda Fischer, a Gales Creek resident who serves as the CPO 13 Secretary and is an elected director on the fire board.
