From the newsroom: I'm leaving for two weeks
The last time I went out of town was for work, so that doesn't count.

Hello, News in the Grove readers and supporters!

I am leaving for nearly two weeks.

But I will be back.

I still won't look like this, though.

I'm putting down the pen, phone, and laptop and enjoying a trip with my lovely wife Shannon to Greece and Italy. The last time I went overseas for a vacation, I hadn't even launched my first newspaper, the Banks Post & Gales Creek Journal, in print. Time flies!

This means there will be no email newsletter on April 25, no new stories except for a couple that I might schedule ahead of time, and you won't be able to reach me unless you get on a plane and find me in person. Please do not do that, though. That's weird.

Regular programming will resume May 1, when I will attempt to cover the roughly two million things happening May 3 in Forest Grove. Seriously, there's a lot happening.

Some big things to look forward to from News in the Grove in May:

  • πŸ“† We'll be seeking sponsors and advertisers to launch a robust events calendar for Forest Grove and the immediate surrounding communities (sorry Hillsboro, love ya, but we're hyperlocal!). I'm super excited about this, and I think you will be too when you see what I'm cooking up.
  • πŸ—žοΈ I will be seriously pursuing funding for our first full-time journalist. More on that soon.
  • πŸ₯• The Forest Grove Farmers Market is back, and I'll be out in the streets every single Wednesday talking to local businesses and people about how I'm bringing locally-owned and produced journalism back to Forest Grove
  • ❓More things I'm not ready to talk about yet because I need to go finish this week's newsletter and pack.

Nobody do anything newsworthy for a few weeks, please.

Thanks for your patience!

Chas Hundley, publisher, editor, and everything else.
